Snap-Tunes Online is a new offering, designed to suit students and families who are in isolation at home due to COVID-19. This is an emotional time for many of us, adults and kids alike. So much is unknown about the future, and we're all adjusting to a new and strange normal - life at home. Music has the ability to go deep and help us process our feelings. Even better is creating music, even better than that is creating music TOGETHER.
***Teachers, through this past few months, you've been asked to adapt to a whole new approach to being educators, learning new software, figuring out how to connect and teach through a screen, and reaching out to families with all different levels of connect-ability. Whereas your role was about being WITH children, you are now completely separate. This is no small task to take on - such a mountain of adjustment! With this program, you can participate and join in the process with your students, knowing that they are getting professional arts and literacy content into their day, as well as being able to process their experiences in impactful ways.***
Older students (Gr 3-6) - Students (and teacher!) join Laura for live online session(s), on the district-approved app of your choice: MS Teams, Zoom, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, etc. Teachers provide direction on a topic to write on, and Laura takes everyone through an interactive process of writing a song. Participants will be able to offer suggestions and thoughts through the chat function. Students who miss a live session can watch the video afterwards. Once the song is finished, Laura will record it and send it to the teacher for sharing with students and families.
Younger students (Gr 2 and younger) - Laura will pre-record a first session, introducing herself and the songwriting plan, and introduce the topic that the song will be written on, provided by the teacher. These session videos will be fairly short - 5 to 15 minutes in length - and each will end with a question (or two) for students to answer in an email to their teacher, with the help of their parents if needed. Slowly, Laura will create the song based on their answers to the questions. Once the song is finished, Laura will record it and send it to the teacher for sharing with students and families.
Community Groups/Families (toddlers, grandparents and everyone in between!) - If you'd like to organize a Snap-Tunes Online session for a group, contact Laura to set up dates and details, or choose from the following classes:
